Real Madrid fought back from a 2-0 deficit against Almería, a team that was still unbeaten in La Liga this season, a team that had momentum but was ultimately incredibly unlucky. The match started perfectly for Gaizka Garitano's side, who scored after 41 seconds. 

Nacho's mistake allowed the visitors a quick break and Ramazani surprised the Bernabéu by slipping under Kepa. The second point was a warning of the insanity to come. Central defender Edgar recovered from a dropped ball and fired what could have been the goal of the season from a distance into the top corner, giving Almeria a two-goal lead. 

Half-time rolled around and Ancelotti changed everything. Madrid got off to a good start, but their fortunes changed when Bellingham converted a penalty after a lengthy VAR review of Kaiky resulted in a handball. However, Almeria did not allow it and continued to race to the other side until Arribas made the final score 1-3. The match was then abandoned to the surprise of the crowd and players, with a very weak foul committed against Bellingham in the build-up, resulting in the score being reduced again by a second VAR review. The next VAR check was soon to take place. Vini Junior carried the ball past Maximiano and, after another long wait, the goal finally arrived and Madrid equalized under controversial circumstances. 

Even when the score was 2-2, the Royals continued to attack. And  just when it looked like it was too late for Real Madrid, the players realized there was no such thing as too late at the Bernabéu. Carvajal received a dropped ball inside the penalty area and fired home from close range to secure all three points in a sensationally dramatic La Liga match.
